In January of 2025, Bishop Siegel announced the plan to move the normative age of Confirmation from 16 yrs old to 10 yrs of age. The decision culminated from almost two years' worth of investigative study, prayer, and discernment into the fundamental nature of the Sacrament of Confirmation and the desire to bring about a renewal of missionary discipleship with our diocese. In accordance with this, the following schedule has been set by the Bishop for the transition:
- 2025-2026: Year of Preparation -- continue to confirm 16 yr olds (10th Grade)
- 2026-2027: Year 1 -- confirm 14-16 yr olds (9th & 10th Grades)
- 2027-2028: Year 2 -- confirm 12-14 yr olds (7th-9th Grades)
- 2028-2029: Year 3 -- confirm 10-12 yr olds (5th-7th Grades)
- 2029 and following: diocesan-wide conformity to confirmation age of 10 yrs old (5th Grade)
