God has bestowed upon his people the gift of song. God dwells within each human person, in the place where music takes its source. Indeed, God, the giver of song, is present whenever his people sing his praises.

Music is an essential piece of the liturgical life of the Church. It is a sign of God's love for us, and for our love of him. With both communal and individual dimensions to it, sacred music can help to enhance both the internal and external participation of the people in prayer.

Music brings a special gift and insight into many areas of our life. Clearly, music in a church setting adds to the power of prayer and worship. Those who share their talents as instrumentalists or vocalists take on the distinct role of ministering through the emotional power of music. We are blessed at St. John the Baptist with many who minister to our community throughout the year. At SJB, there are opportunities to join the Adult Choir, High School Choir, Youth Choir, Cantors, and as Instrumentalists. This Ministry is open to all regardless of musical background.
