Way of the Cross - I. Jesus Is Condemned to Death

Pontius Pilate dares to condemn the all-holy Savior to death. No, not Pilate; but my sins have condemned Jesus to be crucified. O Jesus, have mercy on me and remember Thou didst choose to die that I may have eternal life. Let me so live that when I come to die I may find Thee a most merciful Judge, an all-loving Redeemer.

Leader:  We condemned Jesus that day. It was a family gathering. There were words that were unjust and actions that hurt. We could have made peace but we went off angry with one another... we went home to brood over our hurt.

Response:  My Jesus, Lord, obedience cost you your life. For me it costs an act of will no more and yet how hard it is for me to bend. Remove the blinders from my eyes that I may see that it is you whom I obey in all who govern me.
