Way of the Cross - XIV. Jesus Is Laid in the Sepulchre

Like Jesus, I too must lie in the grave. But Jesus rises in triumph on the third day. My buried Jesus, grant eternal rest to all who sleep in death. Have mercy on me and grant me the grace to rise to a new spiritual life, that dying to myself now, I may rise gloriously with Thee on the Last Day.

Christ Speaks: The cemetery was empty... there was stillness... a flower here... a newly-filled grave there... a marker... the inscription erased by time. We stood there, my friend and I... looking, but not knowing exactly for what... feeling a certain helplessness as we stood among the markers. Death had taken someone close to us... and the prayers had been said...and the people had gone... One by one.

Response: It was then... at that moment... when we felt so helpless... that hope entered our hearts. We raised our heads and our hearts, for the song of the Resurrection was sounding in our whole being. We stood by the Tomb of Jesus... waiting for His Resurrection.

Having finished the Way of the Cross, it is commendable to pray for our Holy Father, the Pope.
