A native of Evansville, Father Ziliak attended St. Meinrad Seminary for high
school and college, and completed theological studies at Innsbruck, Austria,
from which he holds a Licentiate in Sacred Theology. He was ordained there
April 7th, 1962. He subsequently attained a Master's Degree in English Literature
from the University of Notre Dame, 1966.
He served as teacher, vice-rector and librarian at Magister Latin School. He served as Diocesan Director of Radio and Television. He was editor of The Message for over 18 years and Associate Publisher for a subsequent seven years. He was administrator of St. Nicholas Parish in Santa Claus, IN, and pastor of Nativity Parish in Evansville, before becoming pastor of St. John the Baptist on July 14, 1987.
Father Ziliak has worked at broadening ministries to involve more people, emphasizing small faith groups, Bible studies and liturgical participation and planning for our new facilities.
He currently is dean of the Newburgh Deanery of the Diocese of Evansville. He is a columnist for the Evansville Courier and Press, chaplain for the Tri-State Notre Dame Club, and a member of the Communications Board for St. Meinrad School of Theology and College of Liberal Arts.
