TUITION AND FEES - 2007 / 2008

St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish
625 Frame Road, Newburgh, IN 47630-1604

St. John School provides your children with a quality education; however, the high quality can only be maintained through your support. The per pupil cost to educate a child at St. John's is $3,632 a year. We need to count on you for your continued support of St. John's Parish and its ministry of education in the school. We thank you for your commitment to Catholic education.

A report will be given to the school board at the September, November, January, and March meetings for the purpose of monitoring the collection of fees and tuition.

While we are striving to be fully tithing parish - tithing 5% of our annual income to the parish - we have not yet reached that goal. Consequently, it is necessary to charge tuition for those children attending St. John School. (Tuition for Memorial High School students is paid directly to the high school.) The remaining cost for your child's education is covered through stewardship of the entire parish.

The GOAL is 5% of your annual income to the Sunday collection at St. John Parish.

All of the tuition and fees must be paid by April 2th in order for the child(ren) to be retained on the rolls for the next school year. A $25.00 late fee will be assessed for all late tuition payment. See payment schedule below. A $25.00 late fee will also be assessed for all returned checks.

In case of financial hardship, please contact the School Finance Committee to make arrangements.

Book refunds are also pro-rated depending on the withdrawal date. Lost and mutilated books must be replaced at the expense of the child.

The supply bill varies from year to year according to fluctuating material costs. The amount is an average of the total school bill, which includes book rental, workbooks, the weekly magazine, achievement tests, paper for the duplicated materials, art material, and paper for grades K-3 and field trip transportation costs. Learning Disability Services

St. John School recognizes the special needs of our students with diagnosed disabilities, and within limits, will attempt to meet those needs. St. John School accepts students with disabilities who have demonstrated the ability to achieve successfully in a regular classroom setting with accommodations. Parents of students with disabilities are required to discuss their child's special needs (Individualized Education Plan, IEP) with the principal or learning specialist before making application.

St. John School receives consultant services from Gibson-Pike-Warrick Special Education Cooperative. Gibson-Pike-Warrick also provides limited direct speech services to students. In addition to the services provided by the public school cooperation, St. John School will have a full-time learning specialist on staff to provide resource level support to students identified with disabilities. St. John School coordinates with Gibson-Pike-Warrick in the referral for evaluation, determination of eligibility, and determination of appropriate placement for students.

The public school cooperation will conduct an evaluation of a student with a suspected disability upon request. (Upon receipt of parental consent for evaluation, the evaluation must be completed within 60 school days.) Parents may also seek an independent evaluation with a licensed psychologist and submit the report to the school. Upon determination of eligibility, appropriate moderations and accommodations will be agreed upon and implemented by the classroom teacher with support from the learning specialist.
