St. John the Baptist Elementary School:
St. John School offers an opportunity for learning in a Christ-centered environment.  The school provides education for children from kindergarten through the eighth grade.  School day, 7:30 a.m. - 2:15 p.m.

After School Care:
This is a structured environment of play and study for students. The program is offered each school day from 2:15 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Fee is $5.00/day. Maximum fee per family is $9.00/day.

Tuesday for Teens:
Held at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday mornings at Donut Bank in Newburgh. A morning devotional to incorporate the upcoming Sunday's readings with donuts and fun. Open to all high school students grades 9-12. Teens are welcome and encouraged to bring their friends from school.

St. John Kinder Kountry Pre-School:
A developmental learning center for children ages 3, 4, and 5. Preschoolers (must be 3 yrs. by August 1) meet 2 days per week, Tuesday and Thursday, mornings 8:45 - 11:00 a.m. or afternoons 12:15 - 2:30 p.m.
Pre - K (must be 4 by August 1) meets 3 days per week, M-W-F mornings 8:30 - 11:00 a.m. or afternoons 12:15 - 2:45 p.m. or 5 days per week, mornings 8:30 - 11:00 a.m. or afternoon 12:15 - 2:45 p.m.
 

 

Nursery:
Babysitting is available for infants through age two during the 8:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Masses.  Volunteers are always needed (adults over adults over 12 yrs. of age).

Servers:

This ministry calls our young parishioners to serve in a special way during the celebration of the Mass.

Students in the fifth grade and beyond can become regularly scheduled servers if they demonstrate responsibility. Fifth graders begin by serving at the 7:00 a.m. weekday Mass in the chapel.  Sixth graders and beyond serve in the church on weekends.  Adults are welcome to join this ministry.

Religious Education:
Parents are the first and foremost “teachers” in the faith formation of their children.  We encourage your participation in the Religious Education Programs offered.
Sunday Preschool:
Weekly classes using the “I Am Special” series for children ages 3, (by July 1) through Kindergarten during the 8:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Masses.

Elementary:
Students attending public schools in grades 1-6 are provided religious education on Wednesday evenings. Grades 1-5, meet at 4:00 and 6:30 p.m. Grade 6 meets at 6:30 p.m.

Junior High:
Seventh grade students attending public schools meet on Sunday mornings from 10:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. in the school.

High School:
High school students (Grades 9-12), both public and parochial, are offered "active learning experiences" on Sunday evenings, 6:45 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in the lower level of the church. The high school teen nights provide opportunities for prayer, reflection, sharing, and Scripture.

Junior High Youth Ministry:
Planned activities for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders provide opportunities for fellowship and faith enhancement. Activities include dances, pool parties, Six-Flags, day trips, retreats, Relay for Life Team and more. The Junior High Youth Committee meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month, 5:00-7:00 p.m. Pizza is served for $3.00.

High School Youth Ministry:
Planned activities for grades 9-12 provide opportunities for fellowship and faith enhancement. Activities include Holiday World, mission trips, luau parties, movies, overnights, and more.

Young Adult Ministry:
Appetite for Christ, a speaker and discussion gathering, is held at a local bar or restaurant the first Tuesday of each month, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Contact parish office to be put on the mailing list.

Vacation Bible School:
VBS is for children age four by August 1 through those entering grade six. Time: 8:15 a.m.-11:45 a.m. daily. The Gospel message literally comes alive through active learning and fun activities. Puppets, drama, music, play and snacks come together in a concentrated one week program. VBS for 2008 is June 2-6.

Liturgy of Word for Children:
The Liturgy of the Word for Children is offered for children, ages six through grade six, during the 8:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Masses each Sunday. After the opening of the Mass, the priest invites the children and catechists to gather in the front of church where the presider dismisses them to the Elizabeth and Zachary rooms. The catechists restate the scripture readings at an age appropriate level for understanding. The children rejoin their families after the homily. No registration is necessary.

TEC: (Teens Encounter Christ)
A great fun retreat for juniors in high school and up to come together and learn more about their faith. A great way to meet new people from other schools. Applications are in the back of Church. Complete and return to the parish office.

WOW: (Word on Wednesday)
Held at 6:60 a.m. Wednesday mornings at Memorial High School (Rm. 302). Donuts, learning and fun. A morning devotional to incorporate the upcoming Sunday's readings. A challenge for the youth to get up, but a good sacrafice for God. This class is open to all high school students 9th grade - 12th grade. Teens are welcome and encouraged to bring their friends from school.

Senior Mass and Dinner:
Senior Mass and dinner held in recognition of parish high school graduates, May 6, 2007, after 5:30 p.m. Mass.

Cub Scouts:
Cub Scouts, grades 1-5 are provided with service, social, worship and camping opportunities.  Meets the 3rd Thursday, in the Center, 7:00 p.m.

Boy Scouts:
Boy Scouts, grades 6-12, are provided with service, social, worship and camping opportunities.  Meets every Monday, 6:30 p.m., at the Scout Building on Outer Gray..

Scout Breakfast:
Scout breakfast is held in the lower level of the church, 1st Sunday of the month, October through April.

Daisy Troop:
Kindergarten age.  These first-stage Girl Scouts learn the Girl Scout way and enjoy social activities.

Brownie Troop:
Brownies, grades 1-3.  These Girl Scouts enjoy various social and character-building activities.  Third grade Brownies have the opportunity to earn the Family of God award.

These scouts, grades 4-6 have camping, service, social and worship opportunities.  Fifth and sixth grade Juniors can earn the I Live My Faith award.

Cadette Troop:
Grades 7-9.  These young adults learn to become more self-sufficient.  Eighth and ninth grade Cadettes work toward the Marian award.

Venturing :
A program of the Boy Scouts of America for young adults (male and female). The program uses outdoor activities and high adventure Super Activities centered on leadership, service, social interaction, fitness and citizenship to assist young women and men to develop maturity in their faith life and to assist them in integration into the parish community.
