| St. Vincent de Paul: | ||
| St. Vincent de Paul is an organization dedicated to helping those in our area who are in need. The society is funded through personal donations made through the envelope system. A collection box is also located on the back wall of the church. Meets the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month, 6:00 p.m., Joseph Room. A small collection building behind the church is available for donations of clothing and nonperishable items. | ||

| Newburgh Area Food Pantry: | ||
| Parishioners and other area churches/organizations donate food and help stock shelves at the Food Pantry located on St. John Campus - M, W, F, 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and from 4:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on the 4th Thursday of the month. A small bin in the church narthex is available for drop offs of food staples. | ||

| Mother Teresa Treasures: | ||
| A thrift store operated by St. John Parish offering a wide variety of household items including dishes, pots and pans, blankets and linens, clothing and shoes for every age, toys, books, and seasonal items. Staffed by parish volunteers. In existance to pay for utilities and maintenance of the Food Pantry operation. Hours of operation: Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. | ||

| Knights of Columbus: | ||
| Involvement in the Knights provides opportunities of charity and fraternity to serve St. John, the Diocese and the National Level. Meetings are held the 1st Tuesday of the month in the Ruth and Naomi room. | ||

| Nursing Home: | ||
| Individuals take Communion and extend care and friendship to parishioners/families of parishioners who have extended stays in nursing homes. | ||

| Rice Bowl: | ||
| Rice Bowl is a Lenten Home Program to assist people suffering from hunger locally and throughout the U.S. Small boxes are offered to you during the Lenten season for participation in this program. | ||

| Ministerial Association: | ||
| St. John the Baptist is a member of the Newburgh Ministerial Association. The Association exists to enhance ecumenical relations between different faiths and assemblies in the Newburgh area. Ecumenical activities - such as the Easter Sunrise Service - are scheduled throughout the year and are advertised in the local newspapers and in the parish bulletin. All parishioners are invited to attend. | ||

| Respect for Life: | ||
| Directs activities aimed at restoring and strengthening respect for human life. Concerns include not only the unborn, but also the aged, the poor and the handicapped. An annual event (Christ Child Ball or similar name) is held in January of each year with proceeds given to Birthright and Right to Life. | ||

| Clergy Day: | ||
| St. John hosts an annual clergy day. Priests, deacons and seminarians are invited to lunch and golf at Rolling Hills. Tennis and swimming are available in the afternoon. Vespers is held in the chapel, followed by dinner in the lower level of the church. | ||

| Blood Drive: | ||
| Red Cross blood drives are bi-annually (usually August and February) on Sunday in the lower level of the church. It is a wonderful opportunity for parishioners to give the “life support” of blood to others. | ||

| Garden Produce: | ||
| Garden Produce is a summer program encouraging people to share extra homegrown food with those in need. Bring food to the parish office. | ||

| Social Justice Ministry: | ||
| The Social Justice Ministry encourages the community not only to minister to the immediate needs of individuals, but also to address the root causes as to why people are in need. The ministry works on issues such as creating affordable housing, increasing literacy rates, and improving access to health care. Working together with other area congregations, the ministry creates a stronger voice of advocacy for the poor. | ||

| Appalachian Service Trip or Mexico Mission Trip: | ||
| These week-long trips are usually taken once a year. It is open to any member of the parish high school age or older. It is a great opportunity for all to minister to the poor and needy away from home. | ||

| Haiti: | ||
| Grand Bassin is our adopted Haiti parish. Sponsors for children’s schooling ($200/yr.) are needed. Semi-annual collections are sent to our parish, Our Lady of Lourdes. | ||
