TIME TO UPDATE MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

It is time for us to update our parish database with any changes, additions, or deletions that may have occurred in your family over the past year.  Have you changes your phone number?  Have you moved?  Are you preparing to move?  Have you changed your email address?  Do you now have email?  Are all of your children still at home and are they included in your membership record?  If you have not already informed the parish about any changes to your record, please let us know now so that the information in the Guidebook & Directory is correct.  The number of the parish office is 853-6181.

CATHOLIC SCRIPTURE STUDY  will be beginning on Thursday,  Sept. 6 with Deacon Vince Bernardin with The Acts of the Apostles.  Classes will be every Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 pm with scheduled times off for the holiday schedule for St. John School.  The course will run approximately through May.  It is not expected that every one will be able to make every class.  The cost of the class is $50 payable to St. John.  A class representative will be in the narthex after Masses this weekend to answer any questions and register you for class.

TUITION ASSISTANCE.  We often provide assistance for school-age students in our sister parish in Haiti, but we need tuition assistance for some of our own parish who want very much for their children to attend St. John school.  Tuition for one student is $1,230.  If anyone feels they can sponsor a student at St. John, or help in a smaller way, please call Lynda Provence at the parish office, 853-6181.  Many thanks.

NURSERY COORDINATOR NEEDED--  A volunteer is needed to help coordinate the schedule for and train the 8:45 and 11:00 Mass nursery volunteers.  This is a great service which takes only a little time--a wonderful opportunity for someone seeking a way to serve their parish and community but may not have a lot of extra time to spare.  If interested in learning more, please contact Cindy Shoulders at the parish office, 853-6181.

HELP NEEDED.  (Beginning in the fall)  Parishioner looking for someone to care for newborn triplets at night Sunday through Thursday from approximately 9:00 pm to 5:00 am.  Parents would be home also (hopefully sleeping).  Care would include feeding and diaper changing.  We are planning to hire someone for three months at night and then the position could change to working days part-time until we are settled.  Please call Susan or Phil at 858-8025.

ATTENTION!!  NEW PARISH VOLUNTEERS.  ALL new volunteers who will be working with children, three or more times during the 2007-08 school year, are required by the Diocese of Evansville and St. John Parish to attend a Safe Environment training meeting.  Meeting time scheduled for August 27 at 6:30 pm in the lower level of church.  The meeting will last approximately 30 minutes.  Previous Volunteers are required to read and sign a Best Practices Agreement.  These forms will be passed our by your department head.  These forms can be returned to your department head or to Connie Schnapf in the parish office.

In today's Gospel, Jesus tells us that his message can be divisive because it calls us to a radical way of living, a clash of values and priorities which demands self giving for the good of others.
With love for your neighbor who has nothing  look around your house to see what furniture,  household items and clothing you no longer  use...and give it to St. Vincent dePaul.
