What is Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP)?
Christ Renews His Parish is a spiritual renewal weekend designed to help individuals grow in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ and with others in their faith community. It is an excellent opportunity for Catholics to renew their understanding of the basic beliefs and traditions of their faith. It is a time to relax, pray, think about our priorities and refresh ourselves spiritually. More importantly, it allows you the opportunity to examine, rediscover, and intensify your personal relationship with Christ.

This is a two-day retreat unlike any you have previously attended. Parishioners share with one another the ways they have found meaning, hope, peace and love in their lives. They even share laughs along the way. The experience is personal, inspirational, and fulfilling. Many participants feel that the weekend experience has been among the most powerful and positive of their lives. The atmosphere is casual and you will begin friendships that can last a lifetime. Many of your fellow parishioners, who have previously attended, will be happy to share their experience.

What is the History of CRHP?
Christ Renews His Parish is a copyrighted parish renewal process that has existed since 1969 and is recommended by the renewal office of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. It has been used as the primary instrument of personal and parish renewal in over 1,000 parishes in 32 states and 84 Catholic dioceses. Would you invest a day and a half to become a better, happier you? Over the last 28 years, thousands of women and men have done exactly that by participating in a Christ Renews His Parish renewal weekend at their parish.

What Happens on the Retreat?
There are separate weekends for men and women. During the weekend you will listen to a number of individuals who have volunteered to give a personal witness to the power of Jesus Christ in their lives. Group discussions and activities follow each presentation. There will be readings of scripture, time for prayer, and time set aside for personal reflection. You are free to share as much or as little as you are comfortable with. Your needs will always be respected. Sacraments are an integral part of the weekend. There will be an opportunity to go to confession and the weekend will conclude with a private Mass.

Who May Attend?
All adult parishioners 18 and older are welcome! Christ Renews His Parish is for anyone seeking spiritual renewal. You do not have to be a spiritual person to attend the retreat. In fact many people attend because they are not as spiritual as they would like. Many attend because they feel something is missing from their lives. All participants will be welcomed and receive unconditional acceptance.

Will I Have to Get Up and Talk?
Other than a brief initial introduction, you will not have to get up and talk in front of others unless you want to. In smaller group discussions you may have the opportunity to share your thoughts and experiences if you like, but you are not required to. You are free to share as much or as little as you are comfortable with, and all discussions are kept confidential among the group.

Who Facilitates the Weekend?
Your hosts are parishioners who attended the renewal weekend prior to yours. The team works together in prayer and love to share the experience with you. You will be invited to join other men/women to prepare and present the next renewal weekend. This is not a requirement, and you will have time to discern if the weekend experience was powerful enough for you to want to continue on. Those who accept this invitation will be guided in the team formation process and are ultimately able to experience the joy of giving the weekend to the next group of parishioners.
Each weekend is unique and as special as the parishioners attending.

Where and When Does the Retreat Take Place?
The overnight retreat is held in the St. John the Baptist school building with some activities taking place in the church. If you have transportation needs, please let us know when you register and rides can be arranged for you. It begins Saturday morning at 8:00 AM and concludes by approximately 3:00 PM Sunday afternoon. Participants will use classrooms for sleeping.
Remember, this is YOUR time... to get away from the weight of obligations and concentrate on your relationship with our Lord. To help eliminate outside distractions, we ask that you leave cell phones at home or at the very least keep them off and stored away. We will provide you with a contact number to relay to family members in case they need to reach you in an emergency.
• The men's retreat will be March, 2015.

What Do I Need to Bring?
Below are some suggested items you will need for the weekend:
• Air mattress (if you do not have one, please let us know and one can be provided)
• Sleeping bag or bed linens and a pillow
• Sleeping apparel and change of clothes
• Toiletries (toothbrush/paste, makeup, shaving gear, towel, etc.)
• NO showers are available, but wet wipes work very well for a quick, easy wash up.
• Be aware that limited restrooms and locker rooms are equipped with electrical outlets for hairdryers and curling irons.
• Any medications you may need
• If you wear contacts, be prepared that Saturday is a long day of activities
• Umbrella (in case of rain, as we will be moving between buildings)

What About Meals?
You are certain to be well-fed on the weekend both spiritually and physically! All meals are provided and lovingly prepared by volunteer parishioners. There will be many breaks throughout the weekend with snacks and drinks also provided. If you have special diet requirements, please let us know when you register and every attempt will be made to accommodate your needs.

What Should I Wear?
The entire weekend is informal, and there is no dress code. Wear what you like. Comfortable, casual clothes make for a more relaxed weekend. You may want to dress in layers to ensure comfort as we move about different areas of the buildings where temperatures may vary.

What is the Cost?
There is no charge for attending the weekend! The retreat is presented by previous members of the CRHP program and St. John the Baptist parish in hopes of bettering our community through a renewal of our faith. If you feel inclined, donations will be accepted at the end of the weekend to help continue the program.

Are You Ready to Register?
We encourage the adult men and women of St. John the Baptist parish, who are seeking to grow more deeply in their relationship with Christ, to consider this special weekend of spiritual renewal. Come to enjoy fellowship, explore scripture and how it relates to our lives, and to forge lasting and meaningful relationships. With renewed grace, we hope to impact our families and communities in a meaningful way. This is how Christ renews His parish!
